A friend has sent me a file zipped with a prog xalled 7zip. I have winzip, the evaluation version, on its trial period. How do I go about opening his file. He tells me it is compatible with winzip.

I think you need to go to click here

I use IZArc & it comes well recommended. It's freeware, easy to use & will handle several compressed/zipped file formats incl. 7-zip. To learn more/download IZArc - click here

If it's just a file with a .zip extension, just double click it and your zip program (WinZip) should unzip it for you or ask you what you want to do with it (like extracting it to another folder).

If nothing happens, right click the file and select Open With, and select WinZip.

If the file extension is not supported by WinZip, install the software that your friend used to compress it - see ianeon's link.

Or try this free download from PCA. click here Powerdesk 5. It has zip and unzip built-in (on the Archive menu)
