Open Windows at specifed size in Vista

My problem is this:

When I open a folder on my desktop that contains a number of my programs, I would like to be able to open this folder and have a maximised sized window open each time I open this folder in the future. I have tried adjusting the windows to my chosen size the closing it while pressing the CTRL button, but this does not seem to work on Vista. Can anyone help thanks.

Try closing it by using File> Exit after you have adjusted it to the size you want.

Thanks very much for the help rawprawn I really appreciate it, now when I maximize the size of the other windows I now have these stopping at the maximized size the next time they are opened.
