Open Office Querry can't open Word 2007 Doc

I'm using the latest Open Office Suite, and I sent my friend a document I created in open office and he uses Word 2007, I just had the document back and I open it, and I'm greeted with the filter Selection how do I open my document??

By default Office Word 2007 saves files in .docx format which is not supported by OpenOffice. As Marg7 says the file needs to be saved in the .doc format for OpenOffice to open it. Similarly OpenOffice by default saves files in an Open Document format which you can change to .doc format on a permanent basis by looking in Tools>Options and the Load/Save>General category.

Alternatively you could use an online conversion service such click here, which I have used in the past when I have had a similar problem.

Hi All

I used another version of Open Office can't think of its name and the file opened successfully I then reverted back to my original Open Office.
