I am running Windows XP Pro on my desktop machine at home. I have 2 users (both admin) - one for me and one for the wife. All was well today and I have been using the computer without any problems. However, I've switched it off as I wasn't using it. My wife has come back from work, started the computer and she logged in. I went on to check for new mails and I cannot log on:-- click on my name on the welcome screen- startup sound plays- computer stops at "applying personal preferences" (or something like that).I have restarted the machine and it does the same thing. My wife can log in no problem but I can't - it just freezes at the same place. We both have admin accounts.Help anyone?
How do I get into System Restore if I cannot log in?I've tried f5 to try to get the startup menu but that doesn't seem to work.Forgive me but in all the years I have been using XP - I've never had to use System Restore!
Mrs shitface should be able to do it.start > Run typeC:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exeand click OK.
Done it - cheers. Went back to a point this morning and all is working well.VoG™ - I don't think the wife will like you calling her that!
