One pair of speakers

and two XP Pro machines using one monitor, one keyboard and one mouse via a KVM 2-port switch.

The speakers are connected to my main machine and I would like to link them to the backup unit as well. Is this possible, and how?

All comments greatly appreciated.

You can do it but be careful not to have the two sound sources going to the single pair of speakers at the same time. A speaker switch from Maplins will do the job in much the same way as you are switching PCs to the single monitor.

Thanks for the response Sandy. The Maplins site has a 'Speaker source switch', Cat No NA34M @£9.99, is this the sort of thing you're referring to?

You could buy a second set of speakers for less than that

Another option (though 'expensive') would be to ditch/sell your present KVM switch & get one with speaker/audio support like this one click here. More choice click here. G

I've decided to go with the Maplins speaker switch and ordered same. I'll be back if there's any problems.

Thanks again for the advice.
