One or two IDE channels?

Hi All, I am building a new computer, it will have a SATA hard drive and two DVD-RW Dual Layer drives. My question is this, is it considered better to have one DVD drive on each IDE channel or doesn't it make any difference. Obviously I don't need the IDE channels for the hard drive. Thanks

Separate channels is better although you may never notice the difference. With any two drives on the same channel (master & slave). Only one drive can read or write at any given time.

I have a similar set-up. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get either DVD drive to run off the primary channel, so have them running as master and slave on the secondary fine for me.

Thanks, will try one on each channel, see if I can get it to work.
