Hi everyone,

Through a scheme at work i have been offered my choice of rig for up to £2400. The scheme linits me to buying an off the shelf model, or one built by a company which scratch builds to a specific spec. I am looking for some advice on my choice of spec, particularly the MOBO with 800MHz RAM vs the MOBO with 667MHz, 32 or 64 bit Vista, and 1 or 2 graphics cards . It is for gaming and needs to last a loooooooong time before upgrade!

Thanks in advence!

I am definately going for an INTEL® Core 2 Extreme Quad Core QX6700 (4 X 2.66GHz/1066MHz/8MB) Processor (CPU)

With either a ASUS® P5W DH DELUXE MOBO with DDR2, x16 slot, 975X chipset, 3 PCI with 4096 MB CORSAIR XMS2 800MHz(4x1GB)

or

ASUS P5N-32E/ASUS STRIKER EXTREME with 4096 MB CORSAIR XMS2 667MHz(4x1GB)

Either 32 BIT or 64 BIT WINDOWS® VISTA Home Premium

500GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE WITH 16MB CACHE (7200rpm)

768MB GEFORCE 8800GTX PCI Express + DVI + TV-OUT Graphics Card...possibly 2 in SLI but this would mean saving money elsewhere (monitor, keyboard mouse etc)...is it worth it?

Sound Card
Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeMusic 7.1

Power Supply & cooling
FSU 700W Quiet Quad Rail PSU incl Case Fan & CPU Cooler
