Onboard soundcard burned out – what now?

I was trying to record from another audio source to my mic input on my pc with onboard realtek soundcard. Audio source went haywire and fused and it appears to have shorted out my sound card – or between them they have shorted each other out. There are no sounds at all from the speakers though media player etc is still functioning. All settings are as they should be (ie correct audio selected and no mutes selected).

Any idea what I should do to fix this? Just buy a separate sound card?
