Hi guys,

problem with my other halfs pc. It's an old pc. When booting 8 beeps from bios, monitor won't come on just goes to standby. I know it has onboard graphics, can't tell if its buggered or not. Also not sure of the mobo it says ibm rev 1.6 but cant find a mobo online with that name.

Any suggestions apart from *!@: it in the bin.

just a thought,if you have a graphics card from another pc you could try installing that just to see.

hi Jay cant install the other graphics card as the mobo doesnt have an agp slot, tested monitor on other pc and its working fine

The cheapest reasonable graphics card for plugging into either a PCI or AGP slot whichever is appropriate.

The presence of the card should disable the old onboard graphics.
Installing the drivers next should change the display from the generic and horrible, to a good screenful.

i thought all boards had a card slot either agp or pci.
oh well could be time for a new board or pc then.
