Oh & zero How to tell?

  keewaa 11:45 10 Feb 2006

How can I easily tell the difference between an O (capital oh) and a 0 (zero).

Sometimes in emails they look identicle, and copying them into word doesn't help .... is there a way of telling (something that displays the ascii code of them or something that or just makes it obvious)?

Think you can see the zero is narrower than the nought which is a perfect circle.
Reminds me of the 2 Ronnies sketch "Got any hoes"

Oh for the early days of the diagonal slash on the figure 0..:-)

Can't see WST_Engl .... Old English works, but Isn't there a font that does put the diagonal slash through the zero .... that would be best of all. Without going through them all does anyone know ... or a web page showing the zeros of fonts?

Copy the character into Excel and try to do a sum with it. If yoiu get an error, it is a letter.

L00K AT THE W00D DR00PY……number.

Forum letter size is number 12 – you can just detect the letter O is round whereas the 0 is oval. In Word on a high size it is easier to spot.

Why so serious, or is this really a serious matter. Will it increase my pension?

You might not reach your pension if you get the O and 0 mixed up in military communications, you'll more than likely get an Exocet up your exhaust pipe ;-)
