Office 2007 Email Backwards Compatibility...?

  al7478 17:28 15 Apr 2007

A couple of people i know have just got Office 2007 and found that those with previous versions cannot open their email attachments (although the actual emails do not seem to be a problem).

One of these people ended up rverting to a previous version of Office. Does anyone know of a way round the problem for those who want to keep Office 2007?

Double clicking [to open] the attachment you mean?

Or via the previewer?

I mean double clicking to open it.

Save the attachement to an easily accessible location (such as desktop) and open from there.

I'll give that a go.

Just a thought but are the attachments created in Office 2007? If so a converter will be needed click here

What do i need to do with it? Or will it just do its job automatically once I've got it...?

If the attachment a word file first save it as a word 97-2003 doc in the save as options.

The recipients with Outlook 2003 or earlier need to install the converter. Having done that, Office 2007 documents should open automatically in earlier versions of Office.

VoG - will it work with attachments from the internet too...?

I run Office 2007 none of my contacts do I would have to ask a lot of folk to install the converter much easier to save what I want to send them as a 97-2003 doc.

Other attachments are handled just the same as in Office 2003.
