Can anyone tell me what the difference is between an OEM and a RET hard drive?

Thanking you in advance.

OEM comes in a plain brown box, no wires or screws. Retail comes in pretty coloured box with cables ,screws and a handbook. Also the warranty may be for different periods but this varies between manufacturers.

A fancy box, a leaflet, possibly a few screws and an inflated price.

If you have a basic knowledge of computers you most likely won't need all of the RETail extras.

To add to the above, some manufacturers may not give full technical support for OEM products. Hard drives usually do not come under this category. And do check the warranty period before purchase.
