OEM Dell

I have just got a new motherboard and was considering how to install it in my Dell. I then found out that OEM computers are complicated to replace the motherboard in. Could anyone tell me whether Dell computers have by default OEM operating sytems.

Thanks.

P.S. I am running Xp home.

Yes they do.

Is that a replace because it's failed, with a reasonably similar motherboard?

Or an upgrade?

Replace with similar because of failure should allow you to revalidate XP.

Substantial upgrade should mean you have to buy a new copy - but you can still ask them - you never know for sure what they might say.

I managed to fit my new motherboard in the end. I had to get a few new components and revalidate windows but it worked.
