OEM CDROMS -- How many times can you install them?

Hi everyone,

I want to buy an OEM CDROM of WinXP and use it for my MacBook and also to do a clean install with an old PC out of the arc.

Can I use the same disc for both jobs or will it give me issues? Do I need two discs?

Thanks!

An OEM licence once activated is linked to the first computer on which it is used.

It can be reactivated after a serious OS crash or even HD replacement, though this will involve a phone call to MS.

To attempt to spread the same CD around more than one computer at the same time, is unlikely to succeed and is illegal anyway.

Quite apart from the copyright issues raised by Diemmess, have you considered whether your old 'out of the ark' computer will be able to run XP? It may not have sufficient power.

Thanks a lot for your responses.

Disregarding the legalities you can run XP on more than one machine if you use HDD cloning.
Both will work and in my case update with no problems on two PC`s.
As Pineman says of course the machine has to be able to support XP in the first place.
Worth trying anyway, can`t lose anything can you.

It will not work like that as Hardware is different, and Drivers
