OE6 downloads emails without being asked

I've just started using OE6 under Win XP (Home) after being brought up on Netscape 4.79 under Win Me. I find OE is a law unto itself. How do I stop it downloading emails until I tell it to. I thought I'd selected all the correct options, but apparently not.
I can stop emails departing by keeping them in the drafts folder.

And does anyone know whether Netscape 4.79 will live happily with XP ?

Regards,
xquest.

It may be that you have OE set to check for e-mail every so often when you are on line. Go to Tools - Options - General and there's a "send and receive on startup" and a "check for messages every X minutes". Untick the boxes if you don't want it to do that.

Don't know anything about Netscape 4.79. But someone here will know and offer advice.

Regards
