Hallo kind people. I have just returned from a short holiday and OE won't open. I get the "OE has encountered a problem" message and invitation to tell Microsoft. The error message is "C:\DOCUME~1\J\LOCALS~Temp\3802_accomptat.txt" From that I assume that there is something nasty in the Temporary files somewhere. I do know that accomptat.txt is just the name of the file used to tell Microsoft and not the problem itself. So far I have tried: debugging-- the Dr. Watson itself encountered a problem and closed. Rebooting-- no change. Deleting Temporary internet files Running AdAware: it needed updating, and it failed to do that, so I didn't run it. It has never failed to update before. Ran Mcafee virus scan. Nothing but a couple of cookies. IE is running fine. I have never had a problem like this before, unless very temporary.
While I was away, I briefly went online with a wifi connection at the B&B I was in.
Any ideas, anyone? Should I do a registry clean? What is a good registry clean programme? I have 3B Software's Registry Repair Pro.
Well I am amazed. I just went to OE in the program menu in the Start menu and it started straight away-- no problem. And I have been trying all day. I am using OE6 and IE7 and I get automatic updates, so it should be OK. Fingers crossed and if there it happens again, I'll be back. Meanwhile I will do Ccleaner anyway and have a look at Winaso. I will also loook at sfc as I have never heard of it! Thanks for your help!
