Occasional problems with "click here"

  john bunyan 10:10 01 Aug 2009

I have Win XP Pro, SP3, ie 8. All updated.
Sometimes ,but not always, when following a "click here" link in these fora, my search goes into an endless loop, and task manager says "programme not responding" and I have to hit "end now", which sometimes needs repeating. I am invited to send an error report. I have compatability mode activated, and would be grateful for ideas as to why this is spasmodically happening. I do not recall it happening with ie 7 , but do not wish to revert as otherwise I am happy with ie8

Try.Run.Type in cmd.Enter.Command prompt box will ope. Type in ipconfig /flushdns remember the little space before the forward slash or it will not work.it should tell you DNS cache has been flushed ,if so reboot your computer and see if it works any better.
Now that is for XP Vista is different.

Thanks again. Seems to have worked, even without a reboot.
