Hi
I have just got NTL Broadband but the speed of browsing does not seem very fast to me
I was just trying to listen to a BBC programme from last sunday which lasted 15 mins but took me 25 mins to hear. Also if I open two browsers only the active one seems to be working ?
Can I do some thing to speed it up ???

What speed is your connection?

  Geordie_morley 17:25 19 May 2003

What you can do to test your speed is to download the speed test from the link below, this will tell you, your current speed.

Everyone on here will also tell you that it depends on the speed of the site.

what u can do possibly is, post your speed test results on here.

im not too sure on speeds of 128 as i have never used one, but as far as i can tell that seems resnoble, i know someone who has 128k isdn and he gets roughly that, if u are finding it slow i recomend upgradeing ur connection speed

  obeowen 18:12 19 May 2003

Thanks Scott I will have to upgrade then

your slow speed could have been caused by the router or bbc's server and nothing to do with your ntl connection. remember that when you type in a website address it can get routed through loads of servers before it gets to the bbc's. i have just been on to the gmtv website and that was painfully slow.

with 'accord', I have 600 broadband with NTL, it's only faster if the server you are connecting with is as fast or faster than yours, I have my site which people download from all the time, now I know I can Upload at 100 no problem, but someone can only download from me at 4.5 (approx) with a 56k modem...another thing, you should re-check your connection because NTL has upgraded the 128 to 150 last month?????

How do I check my connection has been up graded ???
I hope it does not mean phoning NTL i have no bread in for the sandwiches :)
