NTL Outbreak Page

  coolteentom 14:07 22 Jul 2004

On my Win 98 SE PC, whenever I go onto Internet Explorer, I am automaticaly redirected to click here (An NTL page telling me that I have the NetSky virus). However, it tells me to download a specialised anti-virus program 'Stinger'. When I scan with this, it finds nothing. Also I have scanned the system with updated Norton Anti-Virus, and it has found nothing.

Is there anything I can do apart from contact NTL Support, and wait for 1 - 2 years for an answer??

Your click here page (outbreak.ntli.net) doesn't look genuine to me so I haven't opened it. I would think it's a pop-up advert to get you to buy the stinger program.
I'd be inclined to run other antivirus programs like Avast, AVG, Adaware, Spybot or Bazooka just to check it out and make sure.
Then find a good pop-up stopper.

It's also possible that your home page has been hi-jacked. Try running CoolWebShredder.

Thanks for your advice Wak. I have scanned the computer with Ad-aware 6 already, but I will try these other programs.

Have you opened any email from NTL, they have a warning about bogus emails:

This gives more information on the NetSky virus:
