ntl cable + Router +Open Ports

Got cable broadband installed recently and set up Mentor 4port cable router to share cable modem connection between two PCs running XP. Setup seems ok, both PCs connect to web no problem, decided to check how secure ports were via Sygate SOS and results got me worried.
On ALL tests (QuickScan, Stealth, Trojan etc) the following ports are open - 80 and 8080.
Spoke to ntl Tech Support who did not seem to worried about this just told me to keep my Virus Scanner (AntiVir) up to date, use a firewall, and run AdAware. Do you think i need to be worried about open ports? How do i close them?
My firewall is zonealarm (free edition)
