NTL Broadband connection problem

  canalaholic 19:35 07 Dec 2006

I have just gone onto NTL broadband this morning and have a problem. I have two machines, one win2k, one win98second edition and am sharing the connection via a Netgear GS105 Gigabit switch. How do I get both computers to connect to the net at the same time. Whichever machine connects first locks the other one out. I have tried both with ethernet cables via the switch and also just using the NTL cable modem with one computer on the ethernet port and the other on the USB port. The results are the same. Has anyone got any suggestions please since NTL won`t help because the principal machine (ie whichever boots first) is working. Any help gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

As stated you need a router between the modem and the switch. Like click here the RP614 click here is about £30

Thanks ßeta & AndySD. Looks like I`ll be shopping tomorrow. I`ll repost the thread if I still have problems. Thanks again.
