Notebook on Broadband

  mtwollet 12:23 04 Apr 2006

I Recently phoned a well known Computer seller about an offer on a basic notebook.
I have a wired home network with two PC's on it via a wired router and I was just going to add the notebook to a free node.
The salesman asked me what I wanted to use the notebook for and when I said Web via broadband he stated The notebooks memory wasn't large enough (256MB) and I should at least upgrade the memory to 512MB or try a different notebook.
My question eventually is am I the victim of attempted hard sell or is the salesman correct?
Thanks in advance mt

256mb is plenty, lowest you want for using XP (assuming that's what OS the notebook has) but it won't stop you using broadband.

IMHO He's talking a load of rubish.

I have ran 4Mb broadband on WiFi and lan, on a pent 111 1Gb cpu with 128Mb of sdram and windows XP. Xp ran slowish but the broadband was fine.

Just tried buying one - you go through all the hard sell and at the end he says he will phone you back - but doesn't

Have you a link to the model you are interested in?

They are some cracking deals on the lower end laptops;-)

look just to the right of this reply - there are two adverts for the seller - but it is a phone only deal
