Not sure what it's called, but im looking for something to put onto my laptop that makes the connection stronger, when i do a search for wireless networks, i get my downstairs connection come up, i can barely connect to it, and when i do, it sais VERY LOW, i would much prefer to tamper with my laptop, so instead of installing a signal booster downstairs, can i put an "upgraded sniffer" on my laptop to make the connection stronger?

Sorry if i make no sense, what im looking for may not even exist...

Some PCMCIA wireless cards have a socket for an external antenna.

Best solution would be to replace your router's aerial with a more powerful one.

Another thing that sometimes helps, if you are at two different levels, is to place the antenna horizontal.

Just a thought.

You could try using a USB adapter with a USB extention lead (some come with it) to get it away from the electrical interference of the laptop.
