Not a genuine copy of windows

  BeeWee 19:19 27 Apr 2006

I bought this laptop from ebay just before Christmas. Today is the first time I have needed to update and I have had the message that it is not a genuine copy of windows! I have linked the laptop to my PC so the first question is:
Can I install the genuine copy I bought for the PC on to the laptop?
The second question is:
The hard drive on the laptop is partitioned..can I unpartition it and if so how?
Thank you

1) No, unfortunately not

2) Yes, with Partition Magic or similar

I would suggest that you read the thread "Windows genuine or not" running on this forum. If necessary contact Microsoft UK by phone for advice and help

Oh yes - I should have read that thread first - my problem seems to be exactly the same but I do have all the stickers, serial nos. and hologram on this laptop!

If I do a system restore will it take me back to before I tried to d/l the updates?

BeeWee, yes you should be able to go back with system restore.

If windows will not let you update then use Bigfix click here
