Not allowing internet access 23:05 18 Feb 2009

My other laptop is connected to the network,
yet there is no default gateway on the network status and i can not access any internet.
I dont even know where to start to fix this problem!
Could it be a virus, or just something i need to sort out?
Any help on the matter would be great.

It sounds like DHCP is not enabled on the problem machine. You haven't provided enough information to tell you how to enable DHCP. XP or Vista? This site is top of the following search; click here 16:47 19 Feb 2009

i checked my IP address on the faulty computer, and it doesnt match up to what it used to be, or the other laptops connected to the network.. can i change it back, would that help?

"it doesnt match up to what it used to be," - if it starts 169.254 it means the machine couldn't get an IP address from the DCHP server (your router).

What is the IP address range of your other computers (192.168.x.x usually) and what is the IP address of the problem computer?
