Norton scanning Word

  Mclearns Bald 19:59 03 Dec 2007

When my subscription to Norton ran out, I decided switch Norton off and use AVG. Despite this, every time I use Word, Norton does a scan. This is a right pain in the neck. Not only does it slows things down, but it also prevents me from doing certain things such as using or installing new templates. So how can I completely switch off Norton?

BTW I have already done a 'msconfig' and unticked all the Symantec/Norton boxes.

Thanks VOG and Postie. I was hoping to avoid that solution, because I might re-install Norton at a later date. If I remove it, then wont I lose all my updates? Or will they be re-established on my system when I go back on line after re-installation?

BTW why does Norton only attempt to do a scan on Word, but not other programs?
