windows 7 home prem in the past norton has had a bad name for using up resources,at present i am using, microsoft security essentials. amazon is now offering norton 1 user 3 computers for 1 year, for under £23 seems a good deal, should i buy it or stick with microsoft, as pcadvisor once suggested that norton was "the best"
i think you are suggesting that i should stay with m s e, i tried avast the popups frustrate me i dumped it,i want the best and £23 is not dear but if it is still a resouce hog! no. the freebies must be lacking if you need to upgrade to get a full programme
Maybe stick with MSE but pay for a good Anti-Spyware program.Malwarebytes.Superantispyware.or A Squared. I would use Malwarebytes with any one of the other two. I would think about paying for any one of them as it will give you full time protection.
No, it's not a resource hog these days. Very, very light in fact. With this and a firewall nothing else is needed. I've been doing it this way ever since I dumped AVG for it's many false positives about two years ago. And you're right it IS cheap. It's a bargain.
I used to use NIS ages ago and hated it as it was a resource hog.
Tried all the usual recommendations from the forum and have never been let down. However, after just buying a new pc with NIS 2009 included I can now say that it no longer slows my machine down and runs very quietly in the background.
NIS will be staying on my pc.
