Norton Firewall works with Dial Up not Broadband

Hi Guys! I am running XP Home on a amd 2000 machine. My Norton Personal Firewall works fine on using my back up dial up connection but when connected with my adsl I cannot get any incoming mail or surf the net. I have been to Symantec site they suggested uninstalling and reinstall with a clean boot, that didn't work. Over the past couple of months I have tried various suggestions i.e. emptying the applications listed in Norton and let them configure as I use them, using the special removal tool for NPF all to no avail. This is driving me crazy! My subscription is due soon and I am reluctant to renew as I cannot use NPF! So do I need different settings & rules for NPF when using adsl?
