Hi all,
I keep getting a message from Norton firewall subscription is due (£16 45).I allready paid £20 in October for anti virus. Is this a rip-off or is there a cheaper way to protect my PC as I am retiring next month .Many thanks in advance.

This thread crops up time and time again.

Bottom line is you don't have to pay to have a secure PC. Everything you need is free.

I'm sure some kind soul will come along with copious links.

The kind soul has been and has delivered excellent advice as usual.

Hi all ,
Many thanks for your help but is it ok to use zone alarm and norton antivirus instead of norton firewall and norton antivirus as I have at the moment. The reason I am asking this is I paid for norton antivirus in October 2005.
I hope this makes sense.

Yes, it is OK.
