Trying to sort out a friend's pc (Win98SE) with a very old, outdated version of NAV (circa 1999 or 2000). It has obviously long expired and I would like to replace it with something else but I can't see any obvious means of removing this software (nothing in Add/Remove Progs.
I would like to install Grisoft's AVG. Can I go ahead and install it and expect it to run happily alongside NAV, or will all hell break loose as predicted in some forums I've been to.
for such quick responses. This forum never fails to impress.
Mike - unfortunately there was no installer in that folder.
The Symantec site (Gandalf) looked horrendously complicated(!) but essentially it recommended d/ling and running Rnav2003.exe to remove NAV if all other methods have failed. Guess what - it worked, or at least appears to have done!
Norton's is usually well entrenched in your system. If you run Registry First Aid or Registry Mechanic, you will see what has been left behind even if you have used a Symantec uninstall. I used RFA to clean my system out, then switch to free AV programs.
