Try starting in Safe Mode click here and removing it from Control Panel, Add or Remove programs.

I aways delete the preversion first as norton and some other programs tend to get buggy. The upgrade version will still install ok if pre version is deleted.
I am still looking for the best price for NIS 2006.

Thanks for your responses
I have tried safe mode and it does appear but will not allow me to remove it
Safe mode has several options, including going back to the last succesful configuration. Any suggestion which one I should use?bbmf

is this a new computer you have? details would help i know that pakard bell pcs come with it preinstalled on there systems and that does not show up in add and remove programs

It is not a new machine. It is a philleps which until I downloaded the new norton worked normally. AS teh donwloan installed it did offer to delete previous version which I accpeted. I think this has been done.
In safe mode the programme appears in add/remove but says I have to open in nomral mode then delete it.Trouble is I cannot use normal mode just get desktop only, no icons or task bar!
Shall I use system restore or go back to last working configuration -one option in safe mode?

You need to go to the Symantec Knowledge Base, there is a tool to download that will remove NA2002. This has to be done before you install NA2006.

So, firstly uninstall NA2006 so that NA2002 is running again. Then search the NAV Knowledge Base to find the download, and print out the instructions. Then save the download to your Desktop.

Proceed then as per the instructions which you printed as above.

Good luck.
