Norton Antivirus 2003 failure - advice please.

My Antivirus software has gone "Off" and there is an email status error. My Windows XP Security Centre tells me that I am unprotected. From somewhere, I have had a message which tells me to uninstall and re-install Norton. I have the original 2003 disk but have renewed the software online. Obviously I would expect to download the virus definitions between 2003 and now but do not know whether my renewal info. is lost. I am reasonably computer literate but would welcome advice. Thanks

Stan

I do not think norton 2003 is supported any longer your best bet would be to uninstall it and go for avg which is free.Ignore the message to uninstall and re-install unless you are certain it is genuine

You can still get the updates only tech support has been withdrawn.

Just reinstall and your renewal information should update all automatically
