normal start-up

Hi, I have just had XP installed on my PC by a friend and it seemed OK when he left me but when I boot up myself it appears in Safe Mode with large fonts and icons. I spoke to him and he said press F8 on startup and the options do appear but with normal start highlighted. I press enter and it still starts in safe mode.

Many thanks for any ideas offered.

Have you tried last known good configuration from safemode.

Do you have any usb devices plugged in,if so remove these and try to bootup.

Is it really in Safe Mode - does 'Safe Mode' appear at each corner of the screen?

it sounds as if you need to check the graphics drivers. Click on start -control panel - system _ hardware - device manager. Do you have any yellow symbols listed?
