Noise between tracks on audio cd

After burning audio tracks to CD on Windows Media Player 10, I find I get a very loud "CRACK" in between tracks. They are not obvious when I play the tracks in the same order from the hard drive - only the burnt CD. Any ideas short of using a different burner?

do you have nero?

Just been having a read at one of my little books, it may have a baring on your problem. Known problem with soundblaster live and win98 on a via motherboard Apollo VP3 VT82C597 or Apollo MVP3 VT82C598 chipset

Try using the "Disk At Once" method of burning the CD.

Disk defragged two days ago......yes I have nero - I'll try it nxt time.....running XP Pro, without Apollo motherboard or chipset....will try "disk at once" method" too. many thanks to you all
