no xp security icon in system tray?

I have installed service pact 2 and had enabled the firewall but the icon is now missing from the tray when I goto the security tab and bring it up it says everything is on, I have avg antivurus but its not checking my emails, when i bring up the avg it says that email scans are fully functional but you cant see it scanning the emails? Do I still have a virus problem?

The little icon tends to only pop up in the tray when something isn't switched on, as for avg email scanner, it works in the background so I don't think you've any problems.

Not seeing the icon for the "Security Center" in your "System Tray" (where the clock is displayed) is a GOOD thing. The only time you should see the icon is if there are updates for windows (yellow icon) and if something is wrong with your firewall, anti-virus or automatic updates are disabled.

So DON'T worry.
