No USB ports on my PC

I have an old PC that was purchased a few years ago. Rather than a particular brand, this PC was built for me. It has Windows XP Professional on it. I recently bought a printer but it only can be connected using a USB cable which I have.

Unfortunately, the PC does not have any USB ports on it. Is it possible to buy and install USB on my PC.

Apologies for the vagueness but I have a fairly basic knowledge of PC's

Any advice on what to do and what and where to buy (if possible) would be much appreciated

If you have a spare PCI slot you can buy a USB card that will fit in it with possible four sockets. Or if its only the printer you want to connect you can get a converter cable USB to Parralel
