no space on hard drive

  taffyal 17:29 01 Feb 2006

I've been trying to retrieve some space on my hard drive, deleting rubbish! The "documents & settings" shows itself to contain 6.9 gig- when I open it it shows "administrator" having 6.4 gig in it, but when I open that, it has a dozen smaller folders, the largest being 189Mb, the total only 992Mb. Anyone with any idea whats going on??Its giving me a dreadful headache!! Cheers, Al

Hi, I had this problem some time ago. Found the cause to be a faulty IDE cable. It may not be the answer to your prob. but it sorted mine. Cheers, Bill

Have you checked Show Hidden Files?
If not goto control panel > Folder options > View

Many thanks, Diemmess. Just found a shared folder that had somehow become duplicated from the other PC.Deleted it, & all now OK. Off for cup of tea & an aspirin!! Thanks again, Al.
