Have just installed Windows 95 on an old PC. It used to have Windows 98 on it, but this has been transferred to another PC. The system speaker definitely worked then and would make the standard sounds, beeps, etc.
Now, I get no sound at all. When I look at the system speaker in Device Manager, it says it is working properly, but when I go into Sounds in Control Panel, it won't let me test any sounds - it says there is no mixer device installed. If I go into Multimedia in Control Panel and select Audio Devices, the Properties button is greyed out, suggesting that there aren't any. I don't want to install a sound card - I don't need fancy sound, so has anyone any ideas what's wrong?
