I have recently installed a C-media CMI8738/C3DX PCI audio soundcard on my machine.I have a packard bell platinum 4001 machine and running windows xp home edition.I have installed the win xp drivers on my computer that came on the installation CD with the soundcard, but i cannot get any sound from the device. The error message i recieve reads "Driver is enabled but not functioning properely".

Can anyone help me resolve this issue.

DId you run sound from the motherboard previously?
If so you should go into the bios and disable onboard sound.

Also check in control panel sounds and audio devices, advanced and make sure the mute boxes are not ticked.
