No Sound

Help, Have just finnished building a new system,spec as follows,Winfast k8s 768mg motherboard,AMD Athlon2800+ 1.80GHz cpu, 512mb pc3200 ddr ram,Geforce FX 5200 agp 128mb ddr graphics card, Soundblaster live 24 bit sound card,400 watt power supply,pioneer dvd-rw,120gig hard drive,Windows XP home. i have not got round to buying new speakers yet, i am still using the pair that came bundled with my old system,or trying to, unfortunatly i cant get any sound.

If you have an external sound card and an onboard sound card, they will not work until you disable the onboard one.

Go into your BIOS and find the onboard sound card setting, switch it to disabled.

That should sort it :)

If it turns out to be a conflict OK, if not check each and every cable twice and then give them a twist to make sure they are fully inserted into the sockets. I spent a very happy hour yesterday trying to get the sound to work, doing the above worked just before I was going to bring the computer into contact with the outside world!
