I am using IE6 and no padlock shows up at the
bottom of the screen when i was asked to fill in
credit card details, there is a message which
says this page is securely encrypted but i left
the site before giving details.i have dealt with
the firm before but not online, and had no
problems.A padlock shows up on other secure sites.

Does it say https or http in address field?

i would think you were lucky, it is probably a spoofed site and you should report it to the company, it may or may not be a site error.

As Mike says, if the address says https then it's secure.

The address on the secure page starts http and
does not change to https so there is a problem.
