No connection - but there is!

So, after getting help from you guys on connecting my ethernet cable yesterday, I fired up my broadband this morning, but couldn't use AOL as my browser (which I want to do for various reasons). I started Firefox and the Virgin registration screen came up - HURRAH! However, I didn't get very far when Virgin informed me I have an 'incompatible OS or Browser', whilst I can clearly see I have a connection!? So what do I do now? :-(

cable or adsl?vista or xp?if you are on vista and virgin cable i think internet explorer is the only compatible browser.

Hi - it's cable and xp. I had cable broadband with NTL 4 years ago and I was still able to use AOL as a browser then..
