No CD-ROM sound

  Dobba 10:54 12 May 2003

I am running a SOUND BLASTER PCI128 sound system on my PC.
I get the normal Windows sounds on opening etc., and I know the CD ROM player works because I can load programmes with it, but when I try to play a music CD, I get the following message:-
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"
Can anyone help, please?

Try this: Go into Device Manager (right click on My Computer) find your CD ROM device double click and click on Properties. Ensure that Enable Digital Audio is ticked.

Thanks pops, but the option to enable Digital Audio is grayed out - presumably by particular CD ROM player isn't cut out to use it.
Incidentally, I have already checked that none of the systems are muted and I can hear the Windows sounds OK. I am running Windows ME, in case this is significant
