NIS 2004 & AVG

  accord 17:51 08 Jul 2004

I think i may have a virus on my system.

2 questions:

1: Do I have to start in safe mode, turn system restore off and run a full virus scan in NIS 2003 to remove a virus

2. Can I install AVG on the same system as NIS 2003.

The reason i think i have a virus is because i keep getting emails from the postmaster at email addresses i have never heard of with my email address is mentioned in the text. A full virus scan runs daily with no virus' found.

My system is: XP home, NIS 2003 (up to date),

Thanks in advance for your help.

Don't know what NIS 2003 is, suspect an anti virus package, and no do not install 2 anti virus packages on the same pc.

I do not think you have a virus - some spammer has your email address and has misused it, I get the same with one of my NTL email addressess.

yep, spammer misusing your address.

DONT, install two antivirus packages.

but you can run a scan now - no need for safe mode, unless you need to remove a difficult one.

Thanks for the replies

I have done an online scan via symantec and all is clear.

I shall mark this as resolved,
