Nice New Computer - but installing old programmes?

  ronroam 21:19 06 Oct 2005

I've now got my gleaming new Dell 5100 and want to install the programmes currently on my old 4100 onto the new one.
Excuse my blatent ignorance but is it best to put all the programmes onto a CD and then install them onto the new pc from that - or what?

Thanks in advance..

No you can only load them from the Original disc's one at a time. I would suggest before you load anything. to Get Acronis True Image and make a Image of the C:\ drive

and make sure each one works correctly before loading the next.

Thanks for the guidance.

Heard about this program yesterday that apparently will transfer everything over from 1PC to another, looks interesting, but needs to be installed on both PC's.

Thanks Colberly for the lead. The software and cable would be the ideal option but the cost for this one off transfer is around £50.However,there is the option of using a CD so I am giving it serious consideration because its precisely what I was looking for.
