I built myself a Windows XP computer a few months ago, and every now and again what I would called Intermitant I get a strange problem as follows.
The computer when starting up (WinXP Home) stops and displays Boot Failure, insert System Disk or Sometimes a error relating to BIOS choose 1 etc.
It is a SATA HDD and I tested it fine.
Sometimes I will boot and it stops with bleeping, press the reset swithc then it will be fine and boot into xp.

anoying problem with it being intermitant but one can I check to fix.

Could be a *lazy* hard drive - slow to get up to speed.

Try setting the *Quick boot* option in the BIOS to Disabled - this will do a better RAM test and also allow the drive more time to reach speed.

Will try that later, got to go to bed now.
