Hey,I have a new 2.6hz quad core PC. but the data trasnfer from/to memory sticks and between hard drive is quite slow!It has 2gb of RAM but I expected much quicker trasnfer speeds given the processor speed.Any idea what could be causing this?
are you running vista by any chance? You need a different data transfer application. Google it and you will find some nice data applications
The processor speed is very little (if virtually nothing) to do with the transfer rate between USB & hard drive. It's more related to the South Bridge chipset, your USB device specs and your hard drive spec.
I have 2.6 quad and its very fast, have looked in task manager to check whats running.
I would go with madboy33©®'s guess. I was surprised at how slowly Vista was able to copy. Microsoft did make an attempt to improve matters with a service pack. Do you have all the updates?Another possibility is that your memory stick is slow. There is a huge disparity particularly in the write speeds of flash memory.
