New PC fails to start up from standby

I brought a new PC (AMD dual core 3600+, Asus M2N M/B, Asus 7100GS PCIE graphics).

It starts and can shut down normally. If instead of shut down I put it on standby the standby indicator light blinks normally. When I try to start up while in standby (press a key) the PC starts up but the monitor remains blank with no message or sound output. To get it working again I need to press the reset button to force a new start up, then it works normally.

I try reloading the graphic drivers and some mothrboard drivers with no change in result.

Can any one suggest what to do next.
