New or upgrade laptop

I have a fully working but old Dell Inspiron laptop. Due to internet connection problems, I have been using it to access the internet but it is incredibly slow. It only has 250Mb of Ram & Crucial say I can upgrade to 2GB. Will such an increase improve internet speed? Would I need to upgrade the chip? How easy would it be? Alternatively, should I just get a new laptop?

Seriously, You should Treat yourself to a new machine. The Dell is an old machine and not really up to the mark by today's standards. Certainly you can spend money trying to up-grade the ram but at the end of the day you still have an old Dell...... Your decision !

If the old laptop does the job but is just slow (not surprised if only got 250Mb ram)

Upgrade the RAM that is easiest, here's the picture instructions for Dell Inspiron. No need to upgrade the chip.

Thanks lotvic. I will order the RAM - Crucial only allow for UK address so it will be some time before I report back

New memory fitted and problem solved - internet is quick enough now.
