If it's new I assume it has a warranty?

Send it back - mess mess with it.

Return it to the supplier. A new item should work. There should be no need for you to have to mess about with it.

and they want me to do a factory reset which I am loathe to do because it's taken me so long to get all my software etc up and running.

Sounds like a faulty keboard, can you borrow a USB keyboard and plug it in, if all works ok then it is the keyboard. Factory reset sounds like a waste of time to me.

You are going to wipe out the Warranty using things like that. You should return it and do not take NO for an Answer

Seems to be working fine now but will not hesitate to send it back to the supplier if it fails again within the warranty. Just so inconvenient at the moment but the v small squirt of silicone does seem to have sorted it for now.

Thanks for all the sound advice as always.

Jack - it was a joke you know. Whhoooooooooooooosh.
